Introducing Particles of Color: Where Science Meets Fashion, an exciting new exhibition at Texas Science & Natural History Museum. This innovative showcase explores newly developed sustainable sequins and their use across a range of artistic creations, from garments to textiles, art and jewelry.
Step into the world of creation as you engage with the mesmerizing displays of more than 50 objects designed with more than 10,000 sustainable sequins, and explore the research behind the plant-based, compostable and non-toxic sequins.
Particles of Color: Where Science Meets Fashion was directed by Dr. Jessica Ciarla, Associate Professor of Instruction in the Division of Textiles and Apparel with creative consultation provided by Gail Chovan, Assistant Professor of Instruction. Research development of the sustainable sequins originated through the UT Austin President’s Award for Global Learning led by Dr. Ciarla with co-faculty Dr. Nathaniel Lynd and Assistant Professor of Instruction, Luisa Gil Fandino.
